Background

I’ve been designing for the web for 16 years. In that time, I’ve seen a huge amount of change and my work excites me every day. I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else.

I have worked with a number of high profile brands/organisations such as Department for Education, Transport for London, Superdrug, The Perfume Shop, Gucci, Calvin Klein and Savers. I have lots of experience designing, managing and delegating across large projects, as well as training and mentoring staff.

My previous role

• Designing Transport for London’s brand new incident management system, which covers the entirety of London.
• Using GDS (Government Design System) to create bespoke patterns e.g. incident creation, event scheduling, map search and filtering.
• Being part of an Agile scrum team and advocating for human-centred design. Developing IA structure and requirements.
• Building prototypes and running individual and group sessions for user testing. Analysing findings and iterating to improve designs.
• Managing and mentoring for a UX sub-team embedded in complex transport and infrastructure projects.

What else do I do?

• Mentoring younger designers and teaching skills they need; creative problem solving, UX/UI, software, code, soft skills (negotiation, empathy, relationship building etc.)
• Conducting training for team members around the world on design topics; you can see me in the photo in Hong Kong, running a design and UX training course for data scientists.

What makes me passionate about work?

• The potential to make an impact on someone through thoughtful design
